Significant Figure1. Significant figures are the relevant digits in an integer or a decimal which is rounded off to a certain degree of accuracy.
2. Rules of finding out the number of significant figures in a given number :
     a. All non-zero digits are significant.
         Example :
         5.671 ( 4 significant figures )
         534 ( 3 significant figures )

     b. Zeros between non-zero digits are significant.
         Example :
         6.003 ( 4 significant figures )
         8700005 ( 7 significant figures )

     c. Zeros after a non-zero digit in a decimal are significant.
         Example :
         6.300 ( 4 significant figures )
         0.008700 ( 4 significant figures )

     d. Zeros before a non-zero digit in a decimal are not significant.
         Example :
         0.00063 ( 2 significant figures )
         0.000870 ( 3 significant figures )

    e. Zeros after a non-zero digit in a whole number may or may not be significant, depending on the
        Example :
        6237 = 6000 ( 4 significant figures )
        6237 = 6000 ( 4 significant figures )
